Some major changes took place at Darley Churchtown over the Summer holidays as part of an investment of over £200,000 in the building.
The most significant change was the creation of a new hall. A partition was removed to join a classroom to the former cloakroom and library, a suspended ceiling was removed to take the room back up to its original height and the whole area had new flooring, lighting and decoration.
Alongside this, the previous area that had been used as a hall was turned into a light and spacious classroom. We also divided another room in two to create a dedicated library and a nurture room. In addition, the lighting throughout the building has been upgraded, flooring and doors have been replaced and much of the inside of the building has been repainted.
Our key stage 1 and early years area also benefited from a refurbished cloakroom and toilets.
Further work is planned for the coming months, with canopies due to be fitted in both playgrounds and the early years outdoor area earmarked for resurfacing.
The funding for the improvements has come from a planning agreement from a nearby housing development.
