Forest School

Children at Darley Churchtown benefit from the opportunity to take part in a sequence of carefully planned forest school sessions at least once a year. We have worked with one of our partner schools, St Giles CE Primary School in Matlock, to develop a forest school site and two of our teachers have completed their forest school training and gained the necessary accreditation to run these sessions.

 

The children experience learning in an outdoor environment, finding out more about the plants and animals that surround them and also developing skills such as rope work, use of tools and fire making. There is also the offer of a biscuit and drink at the end of the afternoon to keep them going!
